Vision tests with digital technology

Accusight^® is a software developed to supply a modern solution that is also flexible, and easy to use. It gives the ophthalmologist the means for a precise evaluation of the patient's vision.

The six options for optotypes (Snellen, E letter, C letter, digits, HOTV, and figures) are shown in a size that is precisely calculated for the distance between the patient and the screen. The doctor can choose the best set of optotypes according to the patient's needs. The change of size and presentation form of the optotypes is made with the remote control. The optotypes are chosen at random in order to prevent memorization by the patient and can be altered withou change in size. The letters do not repeat in a line and have similar degree of identification difficulty. Letters that are easy to identify are not used in the test.

The number of characters shown in each line can be changed and this choice is saved for subsequent tests. Therefore, the doctor can configure the best form of visual acuity measurement according to his/her professional experience.

There as five ways of presenting the optotypes:

• Several lines each in a different size (ETDRS),
• Two lines in two different sizes,
• Two lines in a single size,
• A single line and a single letter.

Accusight^® supplies a precise and easy to use method to evaluate contrast sensibility. No projector has this feature. The contrast level can vary from 1.25% to 100%. The test is also controlled through the remote control.

The stereopsy test allows the evaluation at any distance of tridimensional vision. During the test the angle difference can vary from 40 to 3000 seconds of arc. The intra pupil distance can also be adjusted. Four circles are shown on the screen, and the examiner choses which one is presented with 3D effect. With the help of anaglyph glasses (red/blue) the patient must be able to identify the circle presented in 3d.

In the color blindness test (Ishihara) the patient must identify the number shown on the screen. The expected results, normal vision or color blind, can optionally be shown on the screen.

With Accusight^® photos and movies can be shown to the patient and relatives for orientation. New photos and movies can be added after system installation. The doctor can then add the ones from his/her own files.

The following tests are also available: ETDRS, Worth four points, three images for astigmatism tests, and fixation point.
